Enhance Productivity by Taking a Holistic View of Composite Airframe Development

As aircraft have evolved over the last century, the material of choice has changed from wood to metal to composites. At first, composites were used for relatively simple parts such as doors and fairings. But as the benefits of composites became more apparent, it made sense to develop entire airframe assemblies out of them. This created a whole new challenge that required finding a way to effectively design for new materials and highly complex assemblies.

Because the composites design, analysis, manufacturing and assembly processes are inextricably linked, companies that strive to develop robust airframes quickly and cost-effectively must take a much more holistic view of the overall airframe development process.

You will learn how to:

  • Enhance productivity by developing an optimized composite airframe design faster and cheaper
  • Design an aircraft that meets weight and performance standards
  • Manage changes quickly and effectively across the development of composite parts and fastened assemblies
  • Take an innovative approach to developing airframe fasteners and composite products that takes into account new design and manufacturing methodologies
  • Gain a better understanding of the interaction between design and analysis of composite airframe assemblies

Who Should Attend:

• Aircraft OEMs and Suppliers
• Process Improvement Managers
• Design Engineers

• Manufacturing Engineers
• Program Directors
• Analysts

Webcast Speakers:

Steve Green
Program/Project manager
BUTLER International

Mr. Green has 18 years of experience in composite design and manufacturing methods. He has developed and designed primary and secondary airframe structures, such as tail rotor pylons, tail cones, composite doors and hatches, and has also worked with thin- and thick-walled composites, such as flex-beams and rotor blade components. Mr. Green possesses extensive experience with composite manufacturing methods, such as autoclave cure, RTM, fiber placement, filament winding and compression molding.

John O'Connor
Director of Product and Market Strategy
VISTAGY, Inc.

Mr. O'Connor has served in many roles at VISTAGY ranging from application support and technical sales management to business development. Prior to joining VISTAGY, Mr. O'Connor was a senior design engineer at Lockheed Martin where he led a variety of product design teams.

Olivier Guillermin, PhD
Director of Product and Market Strategy
VISTAGY, Inc.

Dr. Olivier Guillermin has held several positions at VISTAGY, including product manager and director of business development. Earlier in his career, Dr. Guillermin led the Structural Analysis Group at ADINA R&D. He was a visiting scientist at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the Mechanical Engineering Department and spent six years as a research engineer and project manager at the National Research Center for Marine and Submarine Technologies in France.
