NASA Explores the Potential of Composites with the Help of FiberSIM®
When NASA was considering the possibility of developing a composite crew module (CCM), the challenge was to enable agency and industry engineers to efficiently explore multiple design concepts that would reduce the mass of the traditional structure by 20 percent and develop an effective geographically dispersed team. Mike Kirsch, NASA’s project manager for the CCM Program, writes in ConnectPress that by the end of the program the engineers agreed the task would have been infinitely more difficult without using FiberSIM software.
