FiberSIM® Software from VISTAGY Now Available on CATIA® V5
Company joins the Spatial CAA V5 community
WALTHAM, Mass., October 1, 2002 — VISTAGY, Inc., a leader in creating specialized engineering environments for computer-aided design (CAD) systems, announced the availability of its FiberSIM® 4.0 software for use on the CATIA® V5 platform. FiberSIM software, which creates a specialized CAD-integrated environment for designing and manufacturing composite parts, will be fully functional within CATIA V5.
VISTAGY has completed an agreement with Spatial Corp., a market-leading provider of 3D development technologies, to become a Component Application Architecture (CAA) V5 Adopter. That relationship gives VISTAGY access to tools for full integration of FiberSIM to extend the standard functions and capabilities of CATIA V5.
“This agreement stems from our commitment to customers who have previously benefited from using FiberSIM with CATIA Version 4,” says Steve Luby, president and CEO of VISTAGY. “Our joining the CAA V5 community will enable CATIA users to tap into the increased functionality and power of CATIA V5 while still having access to the complete range of design-through-manufacture composites tools traditionally provided by FiberSIM.”
“CATIA and FiberSIM share a long history of successful use in the aerospace and automotive industries,” said Mike Payne, CEO of Spatial. “Now that VISTAGY has become a member of the CAA V5 community, we look forward to working with them as they expand their software capabilities on the CATIA V5 platform.”

About FiberSIM
FiberSIM is a suite of software that customizes major CAD systems with a specialized environment for designing and manufacturing composite parts. FiberSIM tools automate the design process, assess the producibility of a composite part, and generate manufacturing information including documentation, flat patterns, and data to interface with laser projectors, automated cutters and fiber placement machines. Consequently, FiberSIM enables users to drive all aspects of preliminary design, analysis, detailed design, and manufacturing from within a single CAD master model, providing a complete digital product definition of a composite part. FiberSIM incorporates XML tools to share composites data with other applications throughout the enterprise, such as software for procurement, quality assurance and manufacturing. The most recent release, FiberSIM 4.0, incorporates a new user interface with the look and feel of Microsoft® Windows on PCs and Motif® on UNIX systems.
