VISTAGY Makes First Sale of FiberSIM® 4.0 on CATIA® V5 in France

VISTAGY’s next-generation software for simulating design and manufacture of composite parts is a key technology at Rex Composites

WALTHAM, Mass. — Today VISTAGY, Inc., the leading developer of computer-aided-design (CAD) integrated software for composite design and manufacturing, announced the sale of FiberSIM® software and training services to Rex Composites, Issoire, France. Rex Composites is known for its development of advanced products such as complex fairings for helicopters, the modular fuselage concept for UAVs, the all-composite light aircraft “Lionceau,” and the Quick Change configuration for Airbus and Boeing. This marks the first sale in Europe of FiberSIM 4.0 on Dassault Systemes’ CATIA® V5 CAD platform. Rex Composites will use the software to increase the efficiency of its industry-leading facility for designing and manufacturing complex composite components.

Manufacturing technologies at Rex Composites include ply-cutting machines, laser projection systems for ply lay-up, stamping machines for forming, and autoclaves for curing composite parts. FiberSIM software will enable engineers at Rex Composites to design composite parts in CATIA V5 and analyze producibility. It will also provide the required software environment for automating composites manufacture by allowing the export of data directly from the design software to the cutting and laser projection systems.

“Adding FiberSIM to our new technology program for composites will help us to provide better and faster services with unique quality and reliability,” said Philippe Moniot, president of Rex Composites. “This new engineering process also represents a significant step toward addressing the growing demand by our European aerospace and industrial clients, such as Eurocopter France, for complex, lightweight components with exceptional performance attributes.”

“Rex Composites is a highly-regarded and successful French company,” said Steve Luby, president and CEO of VISTAGY, Inc. “FiberSIM 4.0 brings our newest technology, including a flexible user interface and XML tools that share composites data with other people and applications, to Dassault’s new V5 technology platform, giving customers like Rex Composites a powerful tool to unlock the true potential of advanced materials.”

About FiberSIM

FiberSIM® is a suite of software that turns major CAD systems into advanced tools for designing and manufacturing composite parts. The software enables engineers to create a complete digital product definition of a composite part within their 3D modeling environment. FiberSIM tools automate design and analysis and generate manufacturing information including documentation, flat patterns, and data to drive laser projectors, automated cutters and fiber placement machines. FiberSIM uses XML technology to share composites data with people and applications throughout the enterprise, such as software for procurement, quality assurance, cost modeling and manufacturing. The most recent release, FiberSIM 4.0, incorporates a powerful new user interface with the look and feel of Microsoft® Windows on PCs and Motif® on UNIX systems.
