Accelerate the Development of First Article Inspection Plans for Airframe Assemblies

The first article inspection (FAI) process is a critical step toward certifying an aircraft. Verifying that a design has been manufactured according to specification is accomplished by satisfying all requirements identified on an inspection plan. The development of FAI plans from model-based designs is a manual and error-prone process. Using Vistagy’s Syncrofit™ Software in conjunction with its Quality Planning Environment (QPE) eliminates the tedious task of consuming the engineering definition into the quality plan.

Product data is imported into the Quality Planning Environment from Syncrofit using the Airframe Quality Connector (AQC). The QPE is then used to complete the inspection plan by creating all the additional content for the AS9102 quality plan. The solution automatically consumes the complete engineering type design definition, including:

• Assembly part accountability
• Notes and specifications
• Joint definitions
• Fastener and hole requirements
• Dimensions and geometric tolerances (GTOLS).

Using Syncrofit in conjunction with Quality Planning Environment enables aerospace engineers to:

• Reduce the time it takes to generate quality plans for airframe assemblies and installation by as much as 90 percent
